The secret of joy in work is contained in one word – excellence. To know how to do something well is to enjoy it.
I think that James and I are so blessed to be doing something we love to do. To create something that looks amazing, works exactly as designed and delights your client…well, you really can’t hope for anything better in your working life.
You and I probably spend more time at our work than we do at anything else; holidaying, sleeping, enjoying your family and friends, reading War and Peace (ok not War and Peace, but you get the idea). So there is no doubt that to be happy in your work is going to have an immense impact on your experience and perspective on life.
We always try to gain the very best result from the brief our clients set us.
Sometimes a client will know exactly what they want and all it takes to complete the design is to decide on one or two final details. This is great and we know exactly where we are heading before we really get started. Often folk have seen previous projects on our website or Facebook page (probably just like you did).
Other clients only have an understanding that what they currently have just doesn’t seem to fit their needs or tastes, so we get a call to come down and chat through some options. This can often end up being a really exciting project especially if the client is open to suggestions. We can depart a bit from the norm and be a bit adventurous. Ok, we all like the classic stuff but sometimes it’s fun to get something no one else has.
Although this is often much more challenging to design, and there will no doubt be issues that would need to be thought through and designed accordingly, it is definitely these projects we look back on with even more delight.
I think the foremost quality – there’s no success without it – is really loving what you do. If you love it, you do it well, and there’s no success if you don’t do well what you’re working at.
